Why Carpet

Nothing looks like it, feels like it or performs like it, it’s true. Carpet enhances the peace and quiet of your home by absorbing sound. It can go over most surfaces, insulates against cold, cushions your feet with comfort and adds safety—preventing slips and falls and protecting objects if they are dropped on the floor. Carpet offers the broadest color and style combinations as well as visual interest and actual texture.

Before purchasing carpet you need to answer the following questions:

  • Does it fit my taste and match my lifestyle?
  • How long do I expect to keep my carpet before replacing it?
  • How is the room going to be used?
  • Will it have heavy or light traffic?
  • Will the room be the centre of activity for family and entertaining?
  • Is there direct access from outside or will the carpet be away from entrances?
  • Will the carpet receive direct sunlight?

Carpet Castle has carpet designed to fit virtually every purpose, decorating style and budget. A higher grade of carpet will give you a greater length of service than one of lesser quality. Buy the best carpet you can afford for the heavy traffic areas of your home—halls, stairs and family rooms and use a superior underlay (pad). A medium grade will provide sufficient service in rooms with less traffic—bedrooms and guest rooms. Look for performance rating guidelines with various brands of carpet.

Since it covers so much living space, carpet is the foundation of your room’s decor. Lighter colours make the room seem larger; darker colours provide coziness. Warm colours can turn up the heat in a room that lacks light while cool greens and blues have a calming effect. When selecting a color, there are also practical considerations. New stain and soil resistant technology makes today’s lighter coloured carpets far easier to clean. Medium and darker colours, tweeds and textures help disguise common soil in your home’s high traffic areas as well as create visual interest.

Environmentally responsible carpet options have their own merits and considerations, and what you choose will depend on your specific need location and use. At Carpet Castle  we’re concerned about the environment and are proud to offer several green carpeting products.

Care and Maintenance

There are two types of dirt that a carpet is subjected to—soiling and staining. Soiling usually occurs as the result of particles of dirt being walked into the carpet from some external source. Staining occurs from spilled materials that weren’t attended to promptly or cleaned up incorrectly. NEVER rub, brush or massage the carpet pile when it is wet!

Vacuum

Vacuum quite regularly—at least 2-3 times per week and once per day in high traffic areas.

Spots & Spills

It is essential that spots and spills are attended to promptly to prevent staining or discolouration. If not attended to promptly, a sticky residue may form, further attracting more soil.

Professional Cleaning

Depending on the amount of traffic, carpets should be cleaned every 6-24 months using a hot water extraction system, commonly referred to as steam cleaning.
