Why Tile

Tile and stone have been used for centuries to create and design interiors and exteriors. Carpet Castle’s ceramic and stone collections are fashion forward which allows you to express your personal taste. We feature the latest trends in colour, sizes and designs including decorative shapes and sizes that help to create your own unique space.

Before purchasing tile you need to answer the following questions:

  • Does it fit my taste and match my lifestyle
  • How is the room going to be used?
  • Will the room be the centre of activity for family and entertaining?

Ceramic tile is a natural product made up of clay a number of naturally-occurring minerals and water. Glazed ceramic tile has a ceramic coating applied to the tile body which gives the tile its color and finish. Porcelain tile is also a ceramic but it is even more durable and some can even go in an outdoor application. Both are durable, easy to care for, scratch resistant and environmentally friendly.

Also  if you are considering a ceramic floor remember underlayment is required in most cases. This may raise your existing floor 1/4″ to 3/4″. This added height would change existing transitions to other floors and alter appliance heights.

At Carpet Castle every effort will be made to address this issue prior to the installation of your new floor.

Care and Maintenance

Tile products should be cleaned routinely. A multipurpose spray cleaner, which removes soap scum, hard water deposits, and mildew designed for every day use, can be used on wall tile areas in residential baths and showers.

For further tile care and maintenance, Daltile provides helpful how-to’s to maintain your tile flooring.

Floors should be vacuumed or dust mopped frequently to remove abrasive agents from the stone surface.

Spots & Spills

Natural stone should be cleaned with neutral cleaners. Stone cleaners should never contain acid or bleach. Acids, even a light solution of vinegar and water, will etch and eventually damage natural stone. Unglazed tile should be cleaned routinely with concentrated tile cleaners that have a neutral pH for safe regular use. The product chosen should also be compatible with cleaning the grout joints at the same time.

Professional Cleaning

Depending on the amount of traffic, tiles should be cleaned every 6-24 months using a hot water extraction system, commonly referred to as steam cleaning.
